Second visit of the Backstreet Boys to Argentina
The arrival:
The BACKSTREET BOYS arrive to Buenos Aires for second time on September 17th, 1998 at 9:05 am in a flight from Miami. In the airport there were more than 300 fans who followed them to the hotel. They stayed 4 days in the country.
Altough it was one of the most cold days
of the year there were more than 2,000 fans in the hotel waiting for them
At 10:30 am they arrived
to the hotel in a bus. The one who was nearest the fans was Kevin because he had his
window opened.
At 10:43 am AJ appeared in one of
the windows. Minutes later did the same Nick, Howie and Denise Mc Lean. Nick threw his cap
and as you can imagine it was a mess. The girl who catched it was kicked and bite by other
fans. It was ashamed the reaction of these fans but Nick shouldn´t have thrown his cap.
Press Conference
They arrived at 18:25 pm because there was so many fansoutside the hotel that they couldn´t leave it.
The questions of the press conference were the following:
- ¿Do you have girlfriends?
- B-Rok: Some of us do, and some others don´t.
- Howie D: No tengo novia
- Nick: I don´t have girlfriend
- ¿What about Mandy? ( There were rumours that He was dating a girl named Mandy. He lied because He knew who she was )
- Nick: ¿Who?
- B-Rok: ¿Who?
- Nick: I don´t know anybody with that name. Isn´t it a coincidence that his girlfriend name´s Mandy?????
- Kevin: Mandy, Mandy
- Howie D:No tengo novia
- ¿In other countries Do the fans welcome you like here?
- Howie D: Sudamérica
- Kevin: Chile was crazy and sometimes happened the same in Europe. We were scared that somebody got hurtf
- In that moment a girl gave them boxers, t-shirts of Boca juniors (the club where they did the concert)
- All of them: What´s this?
- Kevin: ¡¡Epa!! Soy Bostero. What does it mean?
- All of them: Thanks
-This one is to Kevin: Do you always keep your fan´s letters? Because we saw you in the plane with lots of papers
- Kevin: Those were business papers but I tried to answer as many letters as I can.
- Can you tell us about your movie?
- All of them: What movie?
- Brian: This is the first time we know we are gonna make a movie. Tell us you about it.
- What do you think you´ll be doing in a couple of years?
- Brian: I hope I´ll be married with some kids and still a Backstreet Boys
- What are you planning for you third record?
- Howie D: We are gonna rest a couple of weeks and we´ll recording in October or November..
- What do you feel when you received the MTV award?
- Howie D: We were very happy. It was our first northamerican Award and we were very surprised. We dedicated it to Denniz Pop who worked with us writing some songs such as We´ve got it goin´ on, Quit playin´ games, Everybody.
- Can you tell us something about the shows you´re gonna do this weekend?
- Nick: Our show has lot a of energy and much fun!!!
- How did you met each other?
- Howie D.: A.J. and I met in some auditions and decided to make a group. Then we met Nick and we started doing mini shows. After that we called Kevin and he called his cousin Brian.
After 25 minutes of press conference they were given TRIPLE PLATINIUM for the record Backstreet Boys and SEXTUPLE PLATINIUM for Backstreet´s Back. By that time they sold more than 700.000 records en Argentina.
Before they leave the room Kevin and Howie thank in Spanish.
They went to the tv show "Susana
Gimenez" where they sang "as long as you love me " , "All I have to
give" and they were interviewed.
At 21.05 pm they leave the tv set. Brian,
Nick and A.j. return to the hotel. While Kevin and Howie went somewhere else.
On
Friday and Saturday the
BSB decided to play golf. After the shows they decided to have dinner at the hotel.
Saturday night, after the show the BSb were visited by the soccer player Diego Maradona who went with his two daughters.
The shows:
The most expected dates had arrived: September 18th and 19th. We had a very important date at 9 pm in the stadium Boca Juniors.
The tickets were sold out and their prices were from $15 to $50.
The show of Friday September 18th, 1998:
The show started at 9pm and the songs were:

Each of the BSB sang their solo part
* My heart stays with you: sang by Howie D and dedicated to all the girls who were in the show
* Nobody but you: sang by Kevin,
* Lay down beside me: sang by A.J.and dedicated to all the beautiful ladies in the audience
* That´s what she said: sang by Brian. He also played the guitar
* Heaven in your eyes: sang by Nick with a mic like the one in the video All I have to give,
* Let´s have a party
* Quit playin´ games (with me heart)

The show finished at 11pm.
The show of saturday September 19th, 1998 The show started at 8:40 pm and it was seen on tv
The differences between both shows were
* in the song My heart stays with you, Howie also dedicated it to his sister Caroline who died a week before because of lupus
* the violinist Vanesa Mae was invited by BSB to be with them in the song I´ll never break your heart.
Good Bye:
The BSB left the country on September 20th, 1998. Nick left at 5 am. The rest of the boys left the hotel at 7 pm and took a plane at 9 pm returning to their homes.
